When Is Hajj 2025?

Hajj – the sacred major pilgrimage in Islam is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim must perform it at least once in their lifetime, provided that they have the means and health to do so.

According to the Islamic calendar, Hajj begins during the same time each year. It begins on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah and lasts until the 13th of Dhul Hijjah the twelfth and the final month in the Islamic Calendar.

 

WHEN WILL HAJJ BEGIN IN 2025?

As the Islamic year has begun, and is halfway through it. Hajj is expected to take place between 4th June to the 9th June 2025, according to the Gregorian Calendar, the dates varying upon the sighting of the moon.

 

WHERE IS HAJJ PERFORMED?

Hajj is performed in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where the house of Allah – the holy Kaaba is located. The pilgrimage consists of a series of rituals that span over several days and multiple locations within the area of Makkah.

These locations include:

  •       city of Makkah
  •       tent settlement of Mina
  •       Mount ‘Arafah
  •       Muzdalifah

 

Pilgrims also visit the city of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s Mosque, Madinah. The pilgrimage can be physically challenging, as pilgrims have to travel between the locations throughout their journey. The walk can take up to an average of 5 km to 15 km per day. This is why it is essential to be in good physical health and state of mind to perform this sacred pilgrimage.

Additionally, performing Hajj is a true test of faith, steadfastness, and patience. The rewards are immense and the spiritual experience is demanding but worth it. It is best to be prepared for this and this is why for many people, it is a once-in-a-lifetime journey, just for the sake of Allah.
