Huqooq ul Ibad | Global Quran Project

What is Huqooq ul Ibad?

Huqooq ul Allah are the fundamental responsibilities of a Muslim that he owes to Allah such as praying, fasting, Zakat etc. However, the duties of fellow Muslims are also important and necessary to enter Jannah – these are known as Huqooq ul Ibad.

Huqooq ul Ibad are the duties and responsibilities that we owe to other people or mankind in general. It is an important part of Islam for every believer, as it is stated in the Quran:

And ˹remember˺ when We took a covenant from the children of Israel ˹stating˺, “Worship none but Allah; be kind to parents, relatives, orphans and the needy; speak kindly to people; establish prayer; and pay alms-tax.” But you ˹Israelites˺ turned away—except for a few of you—and were indifferent. [Surah Baqarah Ayat 83]

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF HUQOOQ UL IBAD?

There are two types of Huqooq ul Ibad:

Rights Of A Muslim Over Another Muslim

Following are the Huqooq ul Ibad for a Muslim over another Muslim:

A Muslim has six rights over another Muslim: to greet him with peace when he is met, to answer his invitation when invited, to advise him when he seeks counsel, to bless him when he sneezes and praises Allah, to visit him when he is sick, and to follow his funeral when he dies.”
